"Guzov Ofsink is an important part of our family’s professional network. We trust them with our most personal information and planning, and think of them as you might think of the family doctor. They have grown with us as our circumstances have changed – our income has increased, we’ve had children, bought real estate – and helped to ensure our family and our future are protected.”
Clients rely on Guzov Ofsink’s proven legal expertise on all matters related to wills, trusts, estate planning and litigation, as well as our sound advice and counsel on sensitive issues in often challenging circumstances. Our operating philosophy is that estate planning is an integral part of family and business planning, and that all solutions should be custom tailored to address both personal and business needs.
As with all of our practices, Wills, Trusts, Estate Planning and Litigation is grounded in comprehensive legal knowledge and skills, and staffed by senior, highly experienced professionals. We use our extensive knowledge of taxation, business, litigation, and other areas of the law to provide the highest quality legal services, including: the preparation of wills, trusts, health care proxies, living wills, and powers of attorney, and advice regarding tax and other issues related to the protection of assets and distribution of estates.
Systematic estate planning starts with an analysis of all of the client’s assets and a careful evaluation of tax and family issues, so that a unique plan can be created. Clients include U.S. and non-U.S. citizens, traditional and non-traditional families, and a wide variety of individuals and entities. Innovative and creative approaches to particular clients’ circumstances may include sophisticated planning techniques, including irrevocable life insurance trusts (ILITs), charitable trusts, such as charitable remainder trusts (CRTs) and charitable lead trusts (CLTs), revocable trusts, grantor retained annuity trusts (GRATs), qualified personal residence trusts (QPRTs), private foundations, family limited partnerships, asset protection plans, and marital agreements. We keep abreast of frequent changes in tax laws, and create legal documents and estate plans that can flexibly respond to these changes to help assure minimal tax consequences for our clients.
We also represent beneficiaries, executors, administrators, and trustees to ensure ease of estate administration and maximization of estate assets for distribution to beneficiaries. While our legal documents are carefully drafted to minimize the possibility of litigation, if the need arises, our trust and estate litigators zealously protect our clients’ interests.
Our focus on realizing and protecting clients’ goals through sound and comprehensive estate planning – and a full complement of related services – has resulted in long-lasting and rewarding relationships.
